The exhibition features some of the endeavours starting from the second phase of geometric art through the works of 5 Hungarian and 5 Austrian artists. They are characterized by strict use of form and means, an interdisciplinary approach to the chosen themes, expansion of the borders of genre and the free passage between genres.

The forthcoming exhibition of the Open Structure Art Society (OSAS) will feature some of the endeavours starting from the second phase of geometric art through the works of five Hungarian and five Austrian artists. Between them they have many mutual traits, though they are each attracted by different problems and characterized by different solutions and ways of thinking. For instance the approach relating to the part and the whole - elaborated in theory as well by Kiesler and Vasarely – is mutual. The part, as a no longer divisible unit, bears the qualities relating to the whole, the work coming into being through the close inter-reference of the components. Their notion of forms as the synthesis of organic and geometric is also common to them all. Another mutual trait is their approach to themes via systems, and the application of natural geometry or mathematics as a constructing principle.
Though the works on show are not all coloured, the effect of light influencing colour, shape, space, movement, visual experience and interpretation is important for all the artists. They are characterized by strict use of form and means, an interdisciplinary approach to the chosen themes, expansion of the borders of genre and the free passage between genres.

Established by Victor Vasarely in 1987, the Vasarely Museum of the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest is the public institution that gives perhaps the most comprehensive overview of Victor Vasarely’s oeuvre. The Museum organises contemporary art exhibitions and provides exhibition halls for the Open Structures Art Society ( www.osas.hu ).
