First exhibition for the Artists Anonimous Collective. A collaborative group that rides the artworks in 13 different places.
The Rider Gallery presents its inaugural exhibition, ch-ch-changes, a collaborative group show that takes place inside a Ryder moving truck. Exploring the premise of exhibiting art in patterns (inside the gallery and on the streets of the city) ch-ch-changes will travel to 13 different showing locations, topographically drawing a diagonal line from Williamsburg, Brooklyn, to Chelsea in New York City. The Rider Gallery project is in part a response to the 2nd circuit Federal Appeals Court July ruling in Lederman et al v Guiliani allowing artists to exhibit or sell their work in NYC public places without a permit.
The ch-ch-changes exhibition explores personal, cultural, and artistic changes with a particular emphasis upon works that refer to or demonstrate shifts in thinking. Exhibited works are displayed inside the silhouette of a running figure that spans the internal walls, floor and ceiling of the truck. Relinquishing traditional boundaries, included works inhabit the figure pattern and embody the first steps of participating artists’ developing community mind. ch-ch-changes reconsiders the nature of gallery exhibitions and the gallery system as a whole
Included works are: Irys Schenker’s thread-wrapped dolls, Aaron Linn’s linoleum drawings, Mary Pinto’s color photograms and Aaron Zimmerman’s site-specific installations.
The Rider Gallery has been created by Artists Anonymous, a "self-help" artist group based in NYC.
