Red Gate Gallery is proud to present Metropolis Rises featuring works of new media art collective island6 from 15 June 2013. The Shanghai-based collective produces cutting edge art that constantly contemplates the future of Asia, engages sights and scenes from old and new China and elevates the skills of new talents by working from a communal forum.
In its second solo show with Red Gate Gallery, island6 turns the electronic garden on its head with a hard, honest look at the meaning and direction of our obsessions with the automated and computerized. In the stunning locale of the historical Dongbianmen Watchtower, Red Gate Gallery and island6 invite viewers to jump into the swirling debate over the dangers of technology, as the spectre of an eventual cyber-takeover looms large in collective imagination.
