Since April, pupils from Westbridge, St George’s, Christ Church CE and Falconbrook primary schools in Battersea have been working with four artists to cover each floor of the Pump House Gallery with individual environments inspired by the borough park. The gallery will be filled with plant pots containing a range of artwork such as painting, sculpture, textiles and word art as part of the Delicious Monsters: Plants of the Imagination exhibition.
On Saturday 29th June there will be a free family event for all to attend, featuring a range of art workshops and activities for all ages. There will also be an award ceremony at 11am, where five pupils from each school will receive a special prize and one school will be selected to receive an overall prize for the most impressive contribution.
This exhibition is the result of a partnership between local organisations, including Friends of Battersea Park, The Thomas’s School Foundation, Royal College of Art, the artists Li Williams, Kathy Schicker, Tanya Kaprielian, Karen Mears and writer Tom Ogier, and the schools themselves.
Financial and in-kind support for this project has been generously donated by the Co-op Community Fund, Wandsworth Council, Battersea Flower Station, Thrive, Craven Landscapes and Wandsworth Sainsbury's.
