There will be largely site-specific work on the theme of "morality" as the second part of the four-year cycle interpreted and modeled after the "Ring of the Nibelung" by Richard Wagner. Ten artists have dealt with both the interpretations of the symbols.
Rohkunstbau is back: In the twentieth year after the start of the independent arts festival Rohkunstbau, the 19th exhibition will take place. After a year's break Rohkunstbau presents its summer exhibition in the castle of Roskow in the district Potsdam-Mittelmark. Again there will be largely site-specific work on the theme of "morality" as the second part of the four-year cycle "Ring" - interpreted and modeled after the "Ring of the Nibelung" by Richard Wagner. For the ten participating artists that come from five nations the "Valkyrie" with its conflict of brotherly love, intrigue and betrayal will mark the thematic background of the second part of the ”Ring"-project.
For the exhibition, the ten artists have dealt with both the interpretations of the symbols as well as current issues of morality. In their artistic exhibits they express their different views on morality.
In the foyer of the castle Zlatko Kopljar presents his seven-part photo work "WWV 86B". The title is a code name for the "Valkyrie". The artist himself washes his face and hands in blood. The act of washing his hands doesn’t come with any cleansing. To the contrary, it leaves him with an obvious "guilt" that he presents in his show.
10 artists - 10 different positions and interpretations of "moral", an exciting tour in a special location.
We thank the artists for their participation.
