The Invisible Force Field Experiments
Simon Hollington and Kypros Kyprianou are two London based artists undertaking a two-month residency at ArtSway in the New Forest. They will be based at the gallery in August and September 2003, where they will explore the phenomenon of invisible force fields. Kyprianou and Hollington are the first of ArtSway's new series of Pro[ duction ] residencies running throughout 2003/4.
Working with scientists and engineers investigating and attempting to create force fields, Hollington & Kyprianou's work explores the relationship between technology and the uncanny. They will explore how rationality and our desire to know is connected to the inexplicable, and will be conducting their own investigations and experiments into perceptions of the supernatural and the unquantifiable. Throughout the residency, the artists will be testing and experimenting their findings within the locality.
The unveiling of the results will be on the 25th of October when an exhibition of their findings opens and an invisible force field will be created around the New Forest gallery.
Reception for the Artists: Saturday 25 October 2 - 4pm
