Odorama

In the framework of the exhibitions Othoniel, Crystal Palace and Daido Moriyama, the Nomadic Nights present the thematic series Odorama, based on an idea by Hervé Mikaeloff.

The choreographer, visual artist and couturier Christian Rizzo inaugurates the Odorama cycle with a work that has as much to do with dance as with sculpture or clothing design. In this choreographic work in which each dancer wears an ephemeral note of perfume, he invents a dance to be appreciated with the nose as much as with the eyes.

abdul alafrez et norbert aboudarham, - parfum visible - (magic)
Wielding biting humour and implacable rhetoric, the Grand Magasin trio takes its staging of the real to the confines of absurdity. In contrast, the magician Abdul Alafrez and his assistant Norbert Aboudarham are masters of illusion who trick the audience with finesse and delight. Using different methods for different results, Grand Magasin and Abdul Alafrez play at questioning the messages we get from our senses, and particularly our sense of smell.

Rebecca Horn imagines an Oriental evening bathed in the perfume of "Galante de la Noche", a flower which only opens at night, when it exudes a heady, fleshy fragrance. Here, the artist accompanies the poem that this rare and unusual flower inspired her to write with smells, light and music.

Fabrice Hybert here takes up an original cinematographic genre, odorama, as already explored by John Waters in his cult film Polyester. In this 20-
minute film in which carnality alternates with nature, the spectator is in turn viewer and actor: at the appropriate moment, they are asked to scratch the odour-releasing pastels on the card they are given on the way in.

sophie calle, -l'odeur de l'argent- ; matali crasset, -chloro phil- ; sam samore, -invisible paradise-; sissel tolaas, -SIRAP - mon amour-; cees krijnen -divorcée est arrivée-
Le Monde en bouteille (World in a Bottle) offers an olfactory promenade between several artists' projects. The olfactory, psychotropic tales of Sam Samore, the olfactory lexicon of Sissel Tolaas, L'odeur de l'argent (The Smell of Money) by Sophie Calle, the Divorcée est arrivée (The Divorcee Is Here) perfume by Cees Krijnen and the very ecological chloro phil by Matali Crasset x{2013} all these works use smell to convey a vision of the world.

l'atelier sensoriel (samplings)
As part of the Odorama cycle, the perfumers of Quest International have been invited to present their art to the public. Each one will create a perfume in the form of olfactory variations on the same theme. On the same evening, L'atelier sensoriel (The Sensorial Workshop) will be presenting a taste and smell workshop to the public, run by two unorthodox cooks for the pleasure of all the senses.

The Swiss architects Décosterd & Rahm Associés turn the Fondation Cartier garden into the theatre of a utopian project: a fragrant fireworks show. This festive and poetic event will be the final evening of the Odorama cycle.
