Chinese Spring #2 is an overview of some very recent works of the Beijing Avant-Garde. Most of the works of Chi Peng, Liu Xiaofang , 223 ( Lin Zhipeng) and Ren Hang will be shown for the first time ever in Europe. Works of 223, Ren Hang and Chi Peng are very contraversial in China , but they represent the very best of contemporary Chinese Photography , artists that are averse to the commercialisation of Chinese art.

Ren Hang is born in 1987 in Chang Chun, Jilin province in Northeastern China, Ren Hang is a photographer and poet.
His work is deliberately provocative and explicit, sometimes it is too much for the artist’s homeland where the highly conservative society and its conventional codes in art and communication do not gladly accept Ren Hang’s work and of other young artists who are the new generation of the Chinese cultural reawakening. Ren Hang has been invited by artist Ai Weiwei for the group exhibition “Fuck Off” at the Groningen Museum

223 (a.k.a Lin Zhi Peng) is a photographer and writer. He contributes to numerous creative and fashion magazines as photographer and editor. In 2005, 2006 and 2011, he published three volumes of photography magazines titled . 223 is also a successful blogger. His blog North Latitude 23 where he posted his personal photographs and articles attracted millions of views. 223 currently lives and works in Beijing, China.

223’s snapshot aesthetic spontaneously documents his subjects in the everyday, offering clues to his lifestyle choices. In his own words, “My works are part of my life and only exist when I live my life”.

Liu Xiaofang was recently selected by the Musée de l'Elysée as one of today's most promising photographers. Liu Xiaofang creates work that conveys delicate utopian sceneries, her dreamlike aesthetic is a form of translation of her own poetries. Through using photography as her medium, Xiaofang draws attention to the blurred boundaries =between the real and the imagined, leaving the viewers to question the truth of the Landscape placed in front of them.

Chinese artist Chi Peng (*1981 in Yantai, Shandong) is usually the protagonist himself in his staged, digitally processed photographs. The scenarios vary enormously: in the series Sprinting Forward, several nude Chi Pengs flee from an attack by red airplanes, while in his Dream series, multiple versions of himself, with dragonfly wings, fly over the ocean, heading for a vague horizon. Like many of his contemporaries, due to China’s official family policy Chi Peng was raised a single child, so important themes in his work are adolescence, growing up, and issues revolving around sexual identity. However, China’s relentless progress and the accompanying feelings of optimism, doubt, insecurity, and isolation can also be found in his images, where reality and fiction meet.

In China, Contemporary drawing, illustration and contemporary wood printing are very much related to contemporary Photography, for that reason , Stieglitz19 commits itself to show contemporary drawing related to photography.

Her works combine figuretive drawings, surrealism and abstract painting to represent the tangible interplay between philosophy, fantasy and the world of dreams. "

Cai Huanhe is a young artist based in Guangzhou, and is the most promising artist working with contemporary wood printing . Cai Huanhe tells about his works :

My works describes there is order in chaos and mixed of many cultures of the world. I discuss that how to face the permeation of cultural homogenization, and how distinguish our identity and cognitive the culture under the media cultural background of globalized consumption.
