Marti collection. The exhibition deals with the concept of artist networks and exchange. Marti presents a replica of his project TwoHotel, a structure that he erected in February 2013 on a beach in Brazil. In parallel are on view works of artists from his network.
Fabian Marti (b. 1979, Fribourg, lives in Zurich) has become one of the most important protagonists of the Swiss art scene. He works with hybrid media such as photogram, ceramic and wallpaper, that connect craft and mass production and questions subjects such as creativity and authorship.
Fabian Marti‘s exhibition deals with the concept of artist networks and exchange. Marti presents a replica of his project TwoHOTEL, a structure that he erected in February 2013 on a beach in Brazil. Conceived specifically for artists, TwoHOTEL is advertised only by word of mouth and is based on friendship and respect between artists.
In parallel Marti is showing his own works together with works of art that artists from his network have exchanged with him. In this way he is continuing a centuries old tradition in which artists give each other works of art in friendship and mutual respect. The exchange process is an important element of artist networks because it not only demonstrates an economy without a currency that circumvents the market system, but also requires communication and discussion.
