comunicato stampa

artgenève is proud to present its third edition from 30 January – 2 February 2014 at Palexpo.
This carefully crafted salon d’art is the most important event of its kind in the French- speaking part of Switzerland. Keeping current with the global art scene and its own growing international following, this edition of artgenève will present a unique choice of leading international cutting edge dealers and galleries.

The secret of artgenève’s growing success? A savvy combination of dealers and galleries together with institutions and other non-profit organizations, creating a dynamic commercial and cultural platform of exchange. Participants are showcased in a refined intimate setting interspersed with exhibitions of private collections, independently curated programmes and spacious areas dedicated to art magazines, book publishers and the artgenève art talks. F.P. Journe, sponsor of the Prix Solo artgenève 2014, will award to one of the 21 solo exhi- bitions presented, which will be used for the purchase of an artwork to be donated to an institution. The jury will be composed of key figures from the European art scene, including Andrea Bellini (centre d’art contemporain, Genève), Caroline Bourgeois (Collection François Pinault) and Beatrix Ruf (Kunsthalle Zürich).

Two private collections will be shown: a unique body of important works by Pierre Klos- sowski from a genevan private collection and a collection from Gstaad of 80’s American appropriationist artists.

The MAMCO, Centre d’Art Contemporain, Geneva, and Kunsthalle Basel along with Fmac and FCAC, Geneva’s public art collection, will present curated exhibitions. Invited Swedish artist Henrik Hakansson will install a site-specific piece. My Joy, a groupshow of Russian contemporary art curated by Katia Krupennikova and Conversation Piece, an exhi- bition of artworks from participating galleries curated by Tirdad Zolghadr and Peter Stoffel are more special exhibitions.

Thomas Hug and Simon Lamunière, respectively Director and Chairman of the Salon have fashioned artgenève to reflect its host, the city of Geneva, a small pleasant city with an inter- national reputation, known for its ongoing pursuit of excellence.

An essay by Pablo Larios inaugurates a new area in the artgenève catalogue. Each of the following issues will feature an article expressing subjective perspectives on new developments and objective situations in contemporary culture. ‚The Anti-Social Turn‘ investigates the adjustments, both in social structure and art production caused by technological progress.
To be discovered in the artgenève 2014 catalogue.
