Energy of the wire. In her works emerges Defilage, product of chassis metamorphosed, working lacerations and shredding the fragment of arcane commemorations.
Rosa Spina, an artist and a pioneer experimenter in Italy's current Art Contemporary Fiber Art, an artistic movement that developed in the United States and northern Europe, after the sixties, the art of communicating with fiber, wire and fabric.
To express her creativity she uses the icon of tradition and tells her story through a contemporary language.
In her works emerges Défilage, product of chassis metamorphosed, working lacerations and shredding the fragment of arcane commemorations.
Waterfalls wires reinterpreted and transformed express a new creative force, generate new contacts and broaden horizons unimaginable mental and visual. Friendship with Mimmo Rotella is essential to build a path independent and innovative. In Milan she meets Pierre Restany who appreciates her work and encourages Rosa to continue in the trial.
Rosa Spina Selected and sent by the gallery, submit to the personal Energy of the wire ten works of large dimensions on canvas and five sculptures conscious, three-dimensional works consisting of the network of entangled Défilage has participated in several exhibitions both in Italy and abroad, her creativity is known nationally and internationally, Italy ( Milano, Torino, Genova, Ferrara, Bari, Roma, Arezzo, Avellino, Bergamo, Bologna, Imperia, Verona, Udine, Pordenone, Catanzaro, Cosenza etc) Finland, Germany, Australia, United States, Brazil, France. Rosa Spina is currently dedicated to 'organizing cultural events in several Italian centers exhibition.
Energy of the wire
An ancient atmosphere, lost in time, interwoven with contemporary reminiscences: such is the fil rouge that runs through Rosa Spina’s works, a Fiber Art artist and pioneer. Ancestral fragments that lie in the near future, stillness in time, archetypes imprisoned in silk threads, all these elements are intertwined in a charming, ever-changing game. Rosa Spina’s extraordinary ability to plan her work on the loom, then transforming the yarns into Art, has resulted in sophisticated and refined compositions that are open the newest instances of today’s artistic languages.
The artist has the talent of tenaciously measuring herself with the incommensurable, with the immaterial, with the will of picking up the threads of lost feminine memories and of leading the viewer into a dream-like land where edges blur and where nostalgic harmonies and flights of fantasy come into existence. In the shapes thought and created by Spina, cascades of threads are reinterpreted and transformed to become the consciousness of ancient traditions. They produce unimaginable contact; they open up new horizons for the eye and for the mind. […]
The main feature of her works is a beating energy born from a skilled weaving of alchemical knots and threads that take shape into conscious sculpture. These reveal the secret of the impenetrable and causal connections that are the origins of Being and Becoming.[…]
