Jamais Vu. With his most recent body of work Stan Narten presents a series of canvases stemming their sources from Dutch still life painting.
The Kravets Wehby Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Jamais Vu, a solo exhibition of new paintings by Stan Narten, opening on Saturday February 22nd and running through March 22nd, 2014.
Jamais Vu, being the opposite of déjà vu, describes the experience of a familiar thing, which feels strangely unfamiliar. With his most recent body of work Stan Narten presents a series of canvases stemming their sources from Dutch still life painting. Each image cannibalizes its own forms and creates a new composition. Through his use of Old Master techniques the paintings glimmer a sense of historical familiarity.
Opening Reception: Saturday, February 22, 2014 6-8 pm.
