E' con grande piacere che Sebastiano Dell'Arte comunica la prossima esposizione alla Six, In mostra 7 foto vintage di Larry Fink, tratte dal corpo di lavoro denominato "Social Graces" realizzato negli anni '70 e già oggetto di una mostra personale al Museum of Modern Art di New York nel 1979. Con i Social Graces , Larry Fink esamina le complessità dei circoli sociali tra l'alta classe cittadina di Manhattan e la classe operaia della Pennsylvania rurale filtrata dalla sua distinta prospettiva visiva e politica , indagando le interazioni umane delle diverse classi sociali

Larry Fink nato a Brooklyn nel 1941 è cresciuto artisticamente sotto la precoce tutela di Lisette Model e accanto a compagni di percorso come Diane Arbus e Garry Winogrand, ha sviluppato uno stile unico e insolito precorrendo con il mezzo della fotografia un' estetica dell'arte capace di influenzare generazioni successive di artisti.

Nel 2001 , su incarico del New York Times Magazine, Fink ha creato una satirica serie di immagini a colori del presidente George W. Bush e il suo governo ( interpretato da controfigure ) in scene di baldoria decadente sul modello di dipinti di pittori della vecchia Weimar di Max Beckmann , Otto Dix e George Grosz . La prevista pubblicazione della serie non venne realizzata in seguito agli attacchi dell'11 settembre . Più tardi, nell'estate del 2004 , venne esposta per la prima volta alla galleria Powerhouse di New York in una mostra intitolata” The forbidden Pictures: a Political Tableau”.

Larry Fink è attualmente Professore di fotografia al Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. Fink precedentemente ha insegnato fotografia presso altre istituzioni tra cui la School of Visual Arts (1995), la Yale University School of Art (1977-1978 e 1994) , Cooper Union School of Art and Architecture (1978-1983) , Parsons School of Design e la New York University.

It is with great pleasure that Sebastiano Dell'Arte announces Six’s upcoming exhibition. On display, seven vintage photos by Larry Fink, taken from the body of work called " Social Graces” , a series of photographs he produced in the 1970s, already the subject of a solo exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1979. In Social Graces , Larry Fink examines the complexities of the social circles of the upper urban class from Manhattan compared to the blue collar working class from rural Pennsylvania. Everything is filtered through Fink’s distinguished and visual and political perspective, investigating the human interactions of such different social classes.

Larry Fink was born in Brooklyn in 1941. He grew up artistically under the early tutelage of Lisette Model and alongside working companions such as Diane Arbus and Garry Winogrand. Throghout the years he has developed a unique and unusual style, anticipating, through the photographic medium, an aesthetics of art capable of influencing future generations of artists to come.

In 2001 , for an assignmenton from The New York Times Magazine, Fink created a series of satirical color images of President George W. Bush and his cabinet (all portrayed by stand-ins) in scenes of decadent revelry modeled on paintings by old Weimar Republic era painters Max Beckmann, Otto Dix and George Grosz. The planned publication of the series was canceled following the attacks of September 11. In the summer of 2004, though, almost three years later, the series was made accessible to the public and on display for the first time at Powerhouse Gallery in New York in a show titled “The forbidden Pictures: a Political Tableau”.

Larry Fink is currently Professor of Photography, Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. He has previously taught Photography at other prominent schools including the School of Visual Arts (1995), Yale University School of Art (1977-1978 and 1994) , Cooper Union School of Art and Architecture (1978-1983) , Parsons School of Design and New York University .
