Peace. Al centro del lavoro concettuale di Li Wei, c'e' una ricerca sulla giustizia, i diritti e il significato dell'esistenza umana. Nonostante il progresso la minaccia e la morte arrivano all'improvviso.
curated by Jiang Jiehong
Primo Marella Gallery is pleased to present “Peace - 平安” a solo exhibition by Chinese artist Li Wei curated by Jiang Jiehong.
About Li Wei's art practice, curator Jiang Jiehong wrote:
"At the heart of Li Wei’s work, there are enquiries into justice, rights and the fundamental meaning of human existence. Despite China’s economic triumph and its political “harmony”, knowledge, money and social status remain powerless in the face of death, which continues to strike at decisive moments and in critical situations everyday.
It is thus the same for all of us once the threat of death suddenly arrives, or even earlier if we all faithlessly wait for time and life to bring joy or agony. No assurance of hope can be found. Peace is in prayer."
Li Wei is one of the most interesting emerging conceptual artist. Despite the young age, the artist has already exhibited in important institutions: the Today Art Museum in Beijing (“Hero”, 2011); the 4th Guangzhou Triennial (Guandong Museum of Art, 2012); the China Minsheng Art Museum (2011); the Shangshang Art Museum (2009).
