A Life's Work
Carl-Henning Pedersen's body of work is not only among the most prominent contributions to the contemporary Danish art scene - it also spans an impressive period of time.
On 23 September 2003, the artist celebrated his 90th birthday, and still he paints: forcefully, compellingly, and with tremendous inspiration.
Herning Kunstmuseum and Carl-Henning Pedersen og Else Alfelts Museum celebrate this occasion - and the artist's contribution to the arts - with a large-scale retrospective exhibition.
Carl-Henning Pedersen's entire oeuvre will be presented, from the 1930s to the present day: From his wild, youthful experiments with spontaneous, riotous painting to the years in which he consolidated his talent, establishing himself as one of the greatest painters ever to grace Scandinavia. And onwards to his late works, which see him working beyond time and tradition to interpret painting in a strangely individual and entirely unconstrained way.
The exhibition will comprise paintings, drawings, watercolours, pastels, glass paintings and ceramic images, making it the largest single manifestation ever seen of Carl-Henning Pedersen's work.
In the Image 'Dream', 1947.
The exhibition will also be on display at Herning Kunstmuseum and Carl-Henning Pedersen og Else Alfelts Museum 24 January 2004 - 18 April 2004.
Opening Hours: Tuesday-Friday 10am-5pm; weekend 12noon-5pm; Monday closed.
