Luciano Bobba e Luigi Cerutti

Red Stamp Art Gallery e Sabrina Raffaghello Arte Contemporanea sono liete di annunciare e presentare l'inedito progetto fotografico-letterario ideato da Luciano Bobba e Luigi Cerutti, dal titolo La bugia.

La Bugia: il progetto
L’idea nasce da un confronto sinottico di parole e immagini tra il fotografo Luciano Bobba e Luigi Cerutti.

Luigi Cerutti ha steso le parole del racconto La bugia nell’inverno del 2012, perfezionando il racconto nel corso del 2013. Luciano Bobba le ha tradotte in linguaggio visivo, attraverso l’utilizzo dell’occhio fotografico, in particolare della tecnologia messa a disposizione dal suo iPhone, dispositivo tecnologico che utilizza per la fotografia dal 2011. Per questo motivo, per via di questa discrasia temporale non allineata, il progetto non risulta essere un resoconto fotografico di un racconto in prosa. È piuttosto una traduzione visuale postuma di un certo contenuto, un pensiero. Come ogni traduzione, questa non è mera reportistica, ma una vera e propria digestione di significato con i dovuti e necessari stravolgimenti, incoerenze, malintesi.

Dopo dodici mesi di lavorazioni, prima a due mani per volta e poi affiancati, limando la parte visuale e quella testuale, si è ottenuta una sinergia di pensiero che ha trovato il suo naturale sbocco in una mostra che verrà presentata per la prima volta presso la Red Stamp Art Gallery di Amsterdam: il racconto La bugia di Luigi Cerutti e le nove immagini di Luciano Bobba.

Da un significato ridotto a due significanti è scaturita la volontà di trovare un ulteriore dispositivo di raccolta che potesse in qualche modo fare da polarizzatore rispetto al lavoro disgiunto dei due. Per questo in mostra, affiancato all’allestimento formale d’immagini e parole, è stato deciso di presentare un libro d’artista che raccoglie le nove immagini in un formato confezionato per l’occasione e condiviso, accorato, alla storia di questo progetto.

La Bugia: la mostra
La mostra La bugia, presentata da Red Stamp Art Gallery e Sabrina Raffaghello Arte Contemporanea, la cui prima tappa avverrà appunto presso la Red Stamp Art Gallery di Amsterdam, consiste nell’esposizione delle immagini scaturite dalla riflessione tecnico-visuale di Luciano Bobba sulle parole del testo La bugia di Luigi Cerutti. L'esibizione presenterà mediante un allestimento a doppio binario, immagini e parole, tendendo a dimostrare, sia nel caso specifico che in teoria ideale, i punti di contatto comune e le zone d’ombra di difformità tra i due lavori sul terreno comune del pensiero.

La mostra La bugia diviene sia una riflessione sul peso del retaggio familiare, delle condivisioni intime condotte nel focolare e poi impresse, come un marchio, come una dominazione psichica, sui propri membri (contenuto delle parole del racconto), che un approccio teorico alla dialettica sinottica tra parole e immagini ed al peso del divario tra la convenzione che dovrebbe rappresentare il linguaggio e l’originalità del mezzo visuale e dell’opera d’arte.

Luciano Bobba
Art director e artista, Luciano Bobba persegue la sua ricerca su questo doppio binario dalla fine degli anni Ottanta, dopo essersi formato e aver approfondito la sua vena creativa alla Otis Parsons School of Visual Art a Los Angeles. Osservatore della realtà contemporanea e amante della sperimentazione di tutti i linguaggi espressivi, ha esplorato la mail art, la pittura su tela, il disegno al tratto, il collage e la fotografia. Interessato a tutte le nuove tecnologie, è tra i primi a utilizzare l’iPhone come mezzo espressivo, riuscendo a mettere in scena uno stile onirico-pittorico, misurato negli equilibri e nelle densità cromatiche.

Luigi Cerutti
Luigi Cerutti è nato nel 1986 a Torino. Dal 2007/2008 ha iniziato il percorso di curatore d’arte contemporanea. Non ha mai considerato questo un lavoro, proprio per il rispetto e la responsabilità culturale che ne deriva. Da un anno e mezzo lavora per una società di tecnologia digitale a supporto dell’industria editoriale in molti paesi del mondo. Scrive racconti, pensando ad un libro che li raccolga e a molti altri dispositivi letterari, nonché di arte e di sport (soprattutto americano) per vari blog appesi lungo la rete.

Red Stamp Art Gallery and Sabrina Raffaghello Contemporary Art are glad to announce and present the inedited photographic-literary project conceived by Luciano Bobba and Luigi Cerutti, entitled A lie.

A Lie: the project
The idea comes from a synoptic comparison of words and images between the photographer Luciano Bobba and Luigi Cerutti. Luigi Cerutti has drafted the words of the tale A lie in the winter of 2012, refining the story during 2013. Luciano Bobba has translated them into a visual language through the use of the photographic eye, especially by means of the technology made available by his iPhone , a device that he employs to photograph since 2011.

For this reason, due to this not aligned temporal discrepancy , the project does not appear to be a photographic record of a tale in prose. It is rather a posthumous visual translation of a certain content , a thought. Like any translation this is not merely a reporting, but a real digestion of meaning, with the appropriate and necessary upheavals , inconsistencies, misunderstandings.

After twelve months of work, first with two hands at a time and then side by side, by filing both the visual and the textual moiety, it has been obtained a synergy of thought that has found its natural outlet in an exhibition which will be presented for the first time at the Red Stamp Art Gallery in Amsterdam: the tale A Lie by Luigi Cerutti and nine photographs by Luciano Bobba.

From one meaning reduced to two signifiers the desire has arisen to find an additional collection contrivance that could somehow act as a polarizer in respect to the disjoint work of the two. For this reason within the exhibition, alongside the formal staging of images and words, it was decided to present an artist's book that collects the nine images in a format especially made for the occasion, shared and heartfelt to the history of this project.

A Lie: the exhibition
The exhibition A Lie is presented by Red Stamp Art Gallery and Sabrina Raffaghello Contemporary Art; its first stage will take place precisely at Red Stamp Art Gallery in Amsterdam. The show is the presentation of the images by Luciano Bobba resulting from the technical and visual reflection on the words of the tale A lie by Luigi Cerutti. The show will feature a double-track staging of images and words, tending to point out, both in the specific case that in the ideal theory, the common contact points and the grey areas of difference between the two works on the general ground of thought.

The exhibition A Lie becomes both a reflection on the weight of the family legacy, on the intimate shares conducted in the deep hearth of the family and then etched, as a mark, as a psychic domination on its members (the content of the words of the story), that a theoretical approach to the dialectic between words and images: a deep meditation on the gap between the convention that the language should represent for the humanity and the originality of the visual medium that is physiologically included inside an artwork.

On exhibition also hand made earrings realized by Prêt-à-Papier in limited edition with Luciano Bobba's artworks printed on Fine Art Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Baryta paper.

Luciano Bobba
Art director and artist, Luciano Bobba pursues his research on this double track from the late eighties, after having shaped and deepened his creativity at the Otis Parsons School of Visual Art in Los Angeles. An observer of contemporary reality and a lover of experimenting with all forms of expression, he has explored mail art, painting on canvas, line drawing, collage and photography. Interested in all the new technologies, he is among the first ones to use the iPhone as a medium being able to stage a style of dreamlike painting, measured in the balances and in the color densities.

Luigi Cerutti
Luigi Cerutti was born in 1986 in Turin. From 2007/2008 he began his career as a curator of contemporary art. He never considered this a job, due to the respect and the cultural responsibility that comes with it. Since 2012 he works for a company focused on digital technology to support the publishing industry in many countries around the world. He writes stories and tales thinking about a book to collect them, as well as about contemporary art and sport (especially American) for various blogs hanging over the web.
