comunicato stampa

Bill Plympton is considered to be the king of indie animation and is the first person to hand draw an entire animated feature film.

Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, he graduated from Portland State University in Graphiс Design and moved to New York City in 1968. Bill Plymton began his career creating cartoons for such editions as The New York Times, National Lampoon, Playboy and Screw. In 1987 he was nominated for Oscar for his animated short film "Your face". In 2005, Bill received another Oscar nomination, this time for a short film "Guard Dog". His "Push Comes to Shove" short film, won the prestigious Cannes'1991 Palme d'Or, and his "Eat" won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival Critics' Week in "Short Films" category (2001). After producing a set of shorts that appeared on MTV and Spike and Mike's Festival, he turned his talent to feature films. Since 1991 he's released 10 films, 7 of them — "The Tune", "Mondo Plympton", "I Married a Strange Person", "Mutant Aliens", "Hair High", "Idiots and Angels", and "Cheatin'" — are animated features.

Bill Plympton has collaborated with Kanye West, Madonna and "Strange Al" Yankovic, created shot music videos and participated in book publications. In 2006 he received Winsor McKay Award for the Lifetime Achievements (Annie Award).

The exhibition by Bill Plympton will be held at Erarta from September 23 till October 13. You can also see Plimpton's "Cheatin'" at Erarta on September 22 and September 26.
