Forty works provide a comprehensive overview of work completed by Mary Frank during the past 15 years. In the mid-eighties, Ms. Frank, a renowned sculptor in clay, turned her attention to two-dimensional work. These paintings, drawings and prints are works that continue her interest in developing a personal vocabulary of forms that reflect innately spiritual qualities.
Forty works provide a comprehensive overview of work completed by Mary
Frank during the past 15 years. In the mid-eighties, Ms. Frank, a renowned
sculptor in clay, turned her attention to two-dimensional work. These paintings,
drawings and prints are works that continue her interest in developing a personal
vocabulary of forms that reflect innately spiritual qualities. Universal themes of
journey and passage, memory and dream, permeate her current oeuvre and
reflect Frank's poetic sensibility. An illustrated catalogue with an essay by art
historian Linda Nochlin accompanies the exhibition, which is curated by Judy
Collischan, Ph.D., Neuberger Museum of Art Associate Director for Curatorial
Affairs. Funded, in part, by The Richard Florsheim Art Fund, Sid Singer, the
Friends of the Neuberger Museum of Art and the Westchester Arts Council.
