2015 International Krappy Kamera Competition Winners, Guest Photographer Craig Barber and Soho Photo Photographers’ Krappy Kamera Exhibition
New York, NY – Soho Photo Gallery’s February show will feature the winning entries from the 17th Annual International Krappy Kamera Competition, photography by Craig Barber as well as work by the gallery’s photographers. The Krappy Kamera Competition originated at Soho Photo Gallery and is one of the high points of the year.
Miriam Leuchter, Editor-in-Chief of Popular Photography and American Photo was the competition’s juror, judging images made with krappy kameras including Holgas, Dianas, and homemade cameras.
“I was struck and inspired by the quality and variety of the photographs in this year’s competition. The best of them combine real artistry and personal vision with the sort of flawed capture and happy accident that could only come from a truly Krappy Kamera.”
Craig Barber, a highly recognized photo-grapher and teacher, is exhibiting photo-graphs that he shot when he returned to Viet Nam, twenty-eight years after serving there. The show coincides with the fortieth anniversary of the U.S. withdrawal.
