A site-specific drawing executed upon the Interior vertical surfaces of the gallery. Thin graphite lines depict a panoramic scene of a once existed interior space. The deserted room is in a state of chaos, it seems an internal rage of aggression has been directed at its interior and contents.
‘Domestic Civil Wars’
VTO is pleased to present a new installation by British artist Rick Buckley.
‘Domestic Civil Wars’ is a site-specific drawing executed upon the Interior vertical surfaces of the gallery. Thin graphite lines depict a panoramic scene of a once existed interior space. The deserted room is in a state of chaos, it seems an internal rage of aggression has been directed at its interior and contents.
The interior drawing is a device that places an emphasis upon a contention between the interior / exterior of the human psyche, of which its interior (subconscious) is for most part in conflict with its exterior (conscious), the two poles pulling against one another.
The room drawing also functions as an expression that points towards social political issues of vulnerability and displacement. Within the adjoining room to the main gallery space, is a compilation of framed works depicting proverbs belonging to a world of criminality & commerce. These works which are installed as sign boards / placards, as those used in political campaigns and by the property market, these depictions seem to mock and expose such marketing systems of a political / property market apparatus, shedding light upon the true agendas.
