Superflex

Redcat, Los Angeles

With a diverse practice that engages art, design and economic structures of dependency, Superflex challenges the role of artists in contemporary society. The collective of Rasmus Nielsen, Jakob Fenger and Bjørnstjerne Christiansen focuses on developing “tools” such as Supergas (an affordable biogas system), Supercolors (a set of color parameters) and Superchannel (a network of open-access Web television stations).

Their activities and projects are an employment of these tools in particular situations and locations. The members of Superflex are visiting faculty at CalArts’ School of Art in the spring of 2004. During this time, they undertake a multipart project that includes an installation in April that responds to their experiences in California and incorporates their work with CalArts students. Superflex is based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
