Mirror Image. For the exhibition, 22 prints from the series will form a vivid frieze around the gallery, each contrasting but also echoing and resonating with the others across the space: experienced like ripples and waves of colour around the room.

Domo Baal is delighted to present a major new body of work by Lothar Götz: Mirror Image – a series of 35 variant monoprint lithographs, each one unique in its combination of colours. All are pulled from two stones etched with a drawn linear pattern, one a mirror of the other: rays fanning out from two points along a diagonal horizon, forming two penumbras of intense colour. This is a technique that effectively eschews many of the concerns of duplication and reproduction usually central to print production, as each one of these works is essentially a one–off hand–printed painting.

For the exhibition, 22 prints from the series will form a vivid frieze around the gallery, each contrasting but also echoing and resonating with the others across the space: experienced like ripples and waves of colour around the room. The series was produced at Hole Editions, Newcastle upon Tyne, in collaboration with Lee Turner, with whom Götz has previously worked on an earlier set of lithographs.

Götz is known for his site specific wall–paintings – and will present a new work for The London Open at the Whitechapel Gallery which opens 15 July – as well as for his drawings and paintings on board: this Spring, a new monograph has been published by Ridinghouse: Lothar Götz Line Drawings, containing an essay by Charles Darwent: 'Off the Wall: The Drawings of Lothar Götz'.*

Forthcoming exhibitions/work will include a new wall painting for the London Open at the Whitechapel Gallery, open July 15 until September 6, 2015, and a major solo project at The Collection, Lincoln in 2016, which will combine a site–specific commission together with other works.

Other current solo exhibitions are 'Emotional Abstraction' at MEWO Kunsthalle Memmingen, Bavaria, Germany on show until 12th July and an installation of five site–specific paintings on board combining paint and drawing in the Soho Room at the House of St Barnabas in Soho, London, extended until Friday 2 October; Götz's work is also included in the exhibition 'Imagining a University – The University of Warwick Art Collection at 50' at the Mead Gallery, The University of Warwick until 20 June, where Götz's work is part of the permanent collection.

Among recent projects, Götz presented a solo show 'Project 07' at the Contemporary Art Society in 2014, and a commission for the Festival of Love, the South Bank Centre's annual Summer Festival, where Götz presented 'Happy Together' on the floor of the Clore Ballroom in the Festival Hall and 'I Have a Dream' for the windows of the Queen Elizabeth Hall Foyer.

Recent print projects include a set of five small lithographs produced with Hole Editions in 2014 and a screen–print 'Durchgangzimmer' produced earlier this year at the Coriander Studio in London.

*A new monograph Lothar Götz Line Drawings, containing an essay by Charles Darwent: 'Off the Wall: The Drawings of Lothar Götz', was published by Ridinghouse, Spring 2015.
