Sculpture and Object XX

Different venues, Bratislava

The International exhibition consists of open-air part with large scale works which will take place at Grassalkovich garden and rest will be shown in 13 galleries in central part of the city.

comunicato stampa

The main objective of the organisers of this event, is to mediate direct contact between the works of art and the audience as it was done in previous years.

The opportunity of barrier-free communication cultivates a relationship to art and refines aesthetic feeling and the spectator’s awareness.

The sculptures exhibited in the public spaces create unusual local colour and a unique atmosphere, enriching the chances of cultural self-realisation of the inhabitants of and visitors to Bratislava.

International co-operation offers an opportunity to learn more about other cultures through art as the universal medium of communication.

This event was first held in the streets, squares and courtyards of Bratislava in 1996 and gradually a small exhibition of several Slovak artists has expanded into an important and prestigious international event and has become an inseparable part of Bratislava cultural activities in the summer.

It is one of the few events in the field of visual arts, held annually in Slovakia.

Sculpture and Object has expanded into an important and prestigious international event and has become an inseparable part of the culture activities in the summer.

The large variety of artists represented at this exhibitions is not a survey of the art scene, but a valuable aesthetic experience for a wide range of spectators and art admirers.

Sculpture and Object represents several generations of artists. It presents the works of major artists as well as the protagonists of the middle generation and emerging artists from various countries. Every summer quality art and distinguished artistic figures from all over the world come together for this event. At a previous year of the exhibition the then rector of the Budapest Academy of Fine Arts, Professor Adam Farkaš, even noted that Bratislava is becoming the European capital of sculpture every summer thanks to this event.

Exhibition consists of open-air part with large scale works which will take place at Grassalkovich garden and rest of the exhibition will be shown in 13 galleries in central part of Bratislava. The jubilee 20th year of this international exhibition will present the works of more than 120 artists from Slovak republic, Austria, Bulgaria, Czech republic, Germany, Holland, Hungary, Italy and USA.
