The exhibition will offer a display of works from the legacy of a remarkable representative of Belgian art of the Fin-de-Siecle period, painter, draughtsman, essayist, poet, and illustrator ranked alongside such protagonists of Belgian Symbolism as Felicien Rops, James Ensor or Fernand Khnopff. The oeuvre of Jean Delville (1867-1953) was long known only to a comparatively narrow circle of aficionados, art historians and collectors. Similarly, his representation in major exhibitions of European Symbolist art was only sporadic. This situation changed only after his first large retrospective, mounted by the Musee Felicien Rops in Namur, Belgium, in January 2014. The second such major show, taking place at the PCG, is also the first presentation of the work of this major artist outside Belgium. The show is being made possible thanks to loans from a number of prestigious galleries and private collectors. The exhibition is being held with the support of Wallonie Bruxelles International, and the Province of Namur in Belgium. Curator: Hana Larvova'.
