A Screening, Reception, Q&A, Party!

July 19, 2004
7:00 – 9:00 pm

You’re invited to attend a free special screening of four brand new short documentaries by students in the "Real Movies for Real People" class at the San Francisco Art Institute. The eight students in the class – four from SFAI (two graduates, two undergraduates) were teamed with four area teens (all graduates of BAVC’s YouthLink program). The four filmmaking teams had six weeks to carry a program fully from conception to completion. They were directed to consult or collaborate with a local non-profit organization, in order to help promote their cause. For half of them, it was their first filmmaking experience. They were mentored by professional filmmaker Frederick Marx (best known for the film Hoop Dreams) and ably assisted by graduate TA Gyeong-Tae (Teddy) Roh. The class was made possible by a generous grant from the San Francisco Foundation.

Join us in celebrating the achievements of these young people.

Refreshments provided.
