Opening Celebration of Richard Godfrey's '3 Sixty' Installation
We've done it. We've done a whole
year of presenting museum-quality solo shows and international
performance/live art and experimental music events. We're grateful to
the Arts District community for making every one of our openings a huge
success. On Saturday, January 8, 2005, please come as our special guest
to the first opening celebration of Dangerous Curve's second year: that
of veteran Richard Godfrey's installation "3 Sixty." Come meet the
artist as he puts a spin on something big! Again, we'll have lots of
amazing healthy food by master chef John Saslow. For live music, the
legendary experimental musician Josie Roth will once more grace our
stage, followed by the great band Ya Yo Cubs.
The performance artist
will be TBA. We're located at 1020 East Fourth Place, between Molino
and Mateo Streets, in the back of the 500 Molino Street Lofts, #102,
between the Fourth Street Bridge's two on/off ramps.
The exhibit runs until February 4, 2005.

Richard Godfrey has been investigating spatial perception for a while
now, exploring how the visual of an idea can intersect with its
expression. His illusionistic volume installations are not to be
missed. With "3 Sixty," your analytic geometry textbook comes alive.
Godfrey spins a huge crooked line element around its endpoints, lighting
it to look like a giant solid volume. Here, the ephemeral seemingly
turns into a concrete object. Time and space are homogenized
inextricably. The architecture is implicated. The thing takes over the
environment. It takes over your eyes.
Godfrey is well known around these parts and around the world. An Arts
District established veteran, he has also shown internationally.
Godfrey received his B.F.A. and M.F.A. from the San Francisco Art
Institute. He's had dozens of solo shows, exhibiting in both galleries
and museums, including Japan's Kitayushu Museum, The Los Angeles
Municipal Art Gallery, Pasadena Armory Center for the Arts, and The
Laguna Art Museum.
Dangerous Curve is committed to supporting visionary established and
emerging artists of all ages, by emphasizing one-person shows of risky,
intelligent work that is not necessarily commercially viable nor
currently popular. Dangerous Curve is a new venue for both experimental
exhibits/installations and performance/live art, with performance
residencies, and a performance art festival planned.
