Site specific exhibition at St Pancras Church Crypt featuring Katharine Fry, Dan Harris, Eleanor Pearce, Caroline Perry, Rachael Thornley and Marianna Tzoumaras.

The Burial of Isabella Dale brings together six artists who have drawn on the compelling atmosphere and rich history of St Pancras Church crypt to create a site specific show. Presenting dynamic conversations between time and space, histories and futures, science and myth - in a space heavy with association - the show is a descent into a labyrinth of parallel realities, forgotten stories and untold endings.

Katharine Fry searches for an identity, for her place in history. Messages embedded in walls offer fragments of a narrative. A character appears, her actions a hypnotic continuousness. In her constructed world of nostalgia and myth, Fry seeks to harness time and finds her predecessor by 200 years.

Dan Harris unpicks the processes of mythologisation and rationalisation to challenge the conventions of what we believe to be real. In a new video work he presents familiar spaces as forgotten realms; as if flashes from a distant dream, they act as tantalising backdrops for a montage of narrated facts and fictions.

Eleanor Pearce’s Dyad explores the complex relationships between polar opposites. Two performers interact around a stage where curlicue forms serve to root them but also influence the style and fluidity of movement. A malignant force in full wedding dress, with horns of human hair, oversees proceedings.

Caroline Perry works with video, either as short films or video installations. She will be exploring the crypt’s architecture, creating false doorways and passages, drawing on The Secret Garden by Francis Hodgson Burnett. The work will be a loop with no clear beginning or end, allowing the viewer to engage at any point.

Rachael Thornley will be manipulating the fabric of the crypt. Through digital recording and reconstruction, she moulds architectural space to create alternative realities. Inserted back into the original site, a tension is set up between the finite nature of the architecture and the infinite realm she suggests.

Marianna Tzoumaras explores the effect of time on manmade structures. Through the use of organic materials, she will present the invasion of one reality by another. In demonstrating the immense potential that lies beyond the surface of things, Tzoumaras seeks to highlight St Pancras Church's ethos of inclusion.
