03 Sound Politics

Sound Politics looks at how contemporary artists have used the distribution networks associated with music to develop an art with meaningful political content and positioning. The show will include Wavelinks, a multi-channel video installation by Renée Green that looks at contemporary electronic music, a selection of videos representing collaborations between Mayo Thompson (the Red Krayola) and Art & Language, and an installation by the Los Angeles-based sound art and activist collective Ultra-red. The final Cram Session, Counter-Campus, will be presented in November 2005.

This exhibition is organized by Chris Gilbert, Curator of Contemporary Art, The Baltimore Museum of Art.

Cram Sessions: Workshop: Mayo Thompson
2:00 PM
Thompson leads an open discussion of contemporary music production and reception, including commentary on CDs provided by participants in the workshop.

Saturday april 16
Cram Sessions: Performance by Ultra-red
2:00 PM
Musicians and activists from Ultra-red join community organizers and HIV/AIDS service providers in an electronic music performance mixing field samples, music, and live discussion.
