Viaux Gallery for Fashion Photography, Hamburg

Rarely has an exhibition caused as much exitement as Cometti's Jenna Jameson portraits, which were first shown at Viaux Berlin and are now moving to the gallery's Hamburg location. "Cometti stroked the American venus with his camera," gushed the newspaper BZ, the Berliner Kurier, also a daily, announced "Berlin's most expensive Nude" on its front page and Die Welt discovered Cometti for the art market.

But the most advertence by far was generated by the news magazine Der Spiegel, proclaiming Jenna Jameson the new photography icon on its culture pages. "As seemingly unstoppable and rapid her career as a porn star in the U.S. had moved forward, as impressive have been the sales of her autobiography "How To Make Love Like a Porn Star". Jenna Jameson's intimate sexual confessions spent weeks on New York Times bestseller list... now the German public has the chance to get to know the madam better as well: The Berlin gallery Viaux is exhibiting highly erotic pictures of the business savvy sex diva, taken by French fashion photographer Philippe Cometti, for whom she is the ultimate female icon."

Cometti's works have been shown in such exhibitions as "Armani" at the Guggenheim and "ChicClicks" at the Boston Institute of Contemporary Art. He started his career as a fashion photographer for the Dutch trend magazine Dutch and has shot campaigns for Yves Saint Laurent and Lanvin. His pictures often take that path between obscenity and glamour that Helmut Newton - Comettis role model - paved. The "Jenna"-Session, which lasted three days (+ nights) in New York, are avaible in an edition of three - all silver gelatine prints. Phillippe Cometti, born 1968, lives in Paris.
