Revelations
The Nohra Haime Gallery is pleased to present "Revelations," an exhibition
of Julie Hedrick's new paintings. Bold immersive color fields bathe the
eyes in a subtle yet captivating vision.
Fields of color dance, expand in flowing transitions from one to the next,
creating an internal movement of expansion. Layers of paint reveal
themselves at different times of day, as light catches the surface and
yellow turns to gold, blue to turquoise and white into infinity. Rhythms are
created in this dance of life that overflows into our immediate space giving
us a glance of a joyous world.
In this exhibition Hedrick continues her quest toward revealing inner
depths. Her paintings are about dimensionality; an integration of color,
texture and movement that evokes time, spirit and energy. Like music,
meditation upon her paintings gathers meaning over time.
Born in Toronto, Canada, and now living in Kingston, NY, Hedrick created
this body of work while on a one year sabbatical in her home city. Besides
painting, she is also a poet. She has recorded a C.D. of her poems with
background music by Peter Wetzler. She is in the process of recording a new
C.D. of her new Tantra Eros series of poems.
Some of the exhibitions Hedrick has recently been included in are "Past,
Present, Future," "Off the Beaten Track: Great Escapes," and "Re-presenting
Representation".
A documentary on the artist, Julie of the spirits, by Isabel Barton will be
