Quiet Elegance
Featured artists include Joanne Klein, Brett Doar, Ezra Talmatch, Kofi Fosu,
Chanda Hopkins, Craig Cartwright, and Stephan Fowlkes.
Joanne Klein is a minimalist. Her works conjure up a meditative silence,
simply put, a “quiet elegance.†She has created a framework of purposeful
restrictions to guide her through the artistic process. The piece featured
in the show is “One Day marked By Time.â€
Brett Doar's work deals with found objects entangled to display visions of
semi-kinetic machines. The majority of the works are made from
unconventional materials.
Ezra Talmatch uses a draughtsman's precision to make statements on the urban
environment. By featuring a vision of textures and surfaces, he evokes a
feeling within the painting. The end result is a stark atmosphere.
Kofi Fosu’s work is a form of honor, mostly for the spirits that he
personally has known. These are drawings done in oil pastel, pastel chalk,
acrylic and graphite.
Chanda's work is an honoring of the spirits of heroes and heroines gone by.
She works with found objects that include beads, photographic images,
acrylic and oil paints. Her style is bedazzling and psychedelic.
Craig Cartwright is a surrealist who paints in a heightened sense of the
conscious and subconscious. The images are hyper-real done in oil. His work
is reminiscent of Dali.
Stephan Fowlkes has a mathematician’s sensibility. He features geometric
abstractions in his work. It's a reordering of universal balance. Only it is
by design. Stephan's thinking revolves around cosmology, philosophy as well
as psychology.
