Lick Your Selves. A chilled extravaganza, a feeding-frenzy based on Marc Quinn's infamous sculpture 'Self' (a cast of his head in his own frozen blood). The Little Artists will be flogging fruit-flavour ice lolly versions of this notorious icon of Brit Art, dressed as vendors in their blue and orange uniforms.
Lick Your Selves
The Little Artists present the launch of their new work, exclusively at BLOCspace.
LICK YOUR SELVES will be a chilled extravaganza, a feeding-frenzy based on Marc Quinn's infamous sculpture 'SELF' (a cast of his head in his own frozen blood).
The Little Artists will be flogging fruit-flavour ice lolly versions of this notorious icon of Brit Art, dressed as vendors in their blue and orange uniforms.
Supplies will be limited and will strictly be on a first come first served basis, so be sure to get in the queue early. Lucky lickers will be able to keep their special branded lolly sticks as a souvenir.
The literary giant, Will Self supported the project by dedicating a 'Little Artists' postcard 'TO THE LUCKY EBAY WINNER', to be sold on ebay.
They will also attempt to pass off accidentally dropped lollies on paper, as sumptuous abstract watercolours.
The Little Artists are famous for immortalising the great and maybe the not so good of the art world in un-manipulated Lego. Works have included, 'Emin's Bed', 'Hirst's Shark Tank' and 'Koons' Balls' to name a few.
Recently, they contributed to an auction at Christie's London for the National Deaf Children's Society. Their piece, 'Damien's Big Opening' (featuring artworld stars and David Beckham) caused a stir in the national press and raised a considerable amount of money for the charity.
The Little Artists are artists that consider themselves a brand, they use the language of other brands (be they artists - Hirst, Whiteread or companies - Lego, Scalextric) that fit their own values. They create, and do so imaginatively, producing a kind of merchandise for their lines of thought or investigations and for the 'Little Artists' experience as a whole. They approach every aspect of their life in a 'Little Artists' way, their communication with the world is through everything they do.
Forthcoming shows include The Walker, Liverpool and Galerie Krinzinger, Vienna.
The ice lolly art works will be on sale at the exhibition preview from 7-9pm on Friday 29 July.
