Pictures and Sculptures by Creative Figure Studio
The University Museum and Art Gallery, The University of Hong Kong, presents
"Faces and Figures", featuring works by members of the Creative Figure
Studio following their exhibition at the Hong Kong Culture Centre earlier
this year. The exhibition will display works by renowned sculpture artist
Chu Tat Shing and his students Chan Kei Him, Winnie Davies, Raymond Fan, Amy
Ng, Ricky Tang, Steward Wan, Kenny Wong and Tommy Wong.
Established in 1995, the Creative Figure Studio is distinguished by its
emphasis on both two and three-dimensional art forms. Members of the Studio
come from different backgrounds and professions but are brought together by
a common interest in the human figure as subject matter in art. They meet
every weekend at Chu Tat Shing's studio where models are hired for them to
explore different ways of representing the human body. The exhibition will
display over 50 diverse works of portraiture, figure drawing and sculpture,
in a range of media including bronze, ceramics, plaster clay, oil painting,
watercolour, charcoal and ink. These works reflect the dedication of members
of the Creative Figure Studio towards the improvement of their art despite
limited time, space and resources.
Exhibition preview: Friday 28 October from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Chu Tat Shing will be giving a sculpture demonstration at the Museum on Saturday 5 November from 2.30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
