21 Years of Collecting for Scotland

In January 2006, Sir Timothy Clifford will step down as Director-General of the National Galleries of Scotland, after twenty-one years in the post. To celebrate more than two decades of his memorable and influential leadership, the Galleries will mount a special exhibition this autumn, highlighting the dramatic expansion of the national collections in this period. Sir Timothy will perhaps be best remembered for his dedicated passion with which he has pursued and secured major acquisitions, helping to give Scotland one of the greatest collections of Western art in Europe.
