The show presents the paintings of Surrealist artist Eugene Berman within the context of his times, shown beside the work of artists Joseph Cornell, Giorgio De Chirico, Frida Kahlo, Kay Sage as well as by contemporary artists Amy Adler, Lari Pittman, John O'Reilly, Cindy Sherman and others. Paintings, photographs, sculptures and maquettes, and arises from a new view of these artworks and their relationships, suggesting new connections and a common tone of 'melancholic sublime.'
