I need a radical change. Produced by: 1.60insurgent space
1.60insurgent space is the name of a space that move itself continuously inside the cities, producing exhibitions whose intent is to put to comparison international artists with various places, different from the "institutional ones", in order to create new arguments around the art and its borders. The exhibitions are curated every month by Stefano Romano and a different curator each time.
Dren Maliqi. I need a radical change, from Thursday 22 of December, on the walls of Tirana.
Dren Maliqi puts on the wall the invites "I need a radical change", (repeated many times) that perhaps encloses on itself a deprived need of its generation for the changes. To say the truth, this scream is individual, without wide references and one precise definition of the direction and the objective of the radical change. I consider this scream as scream of its generation perhaps because I suppose that, first, Dren Maliqi, with this phrase, alludes to the failure of the Fine Arts Academy student’s rebellion, two years ago; he was also one of the leaders. The students weren’t able to change anything in the Academy and the artist is now concluding His thinking declaring that the need of the changes must be canalized first on him. The idea is that without changing himself you cannot think for any other changes. This is worth in some way, also for the radical aspirations of the art, which someone has said: "it’s true that art cannot change the world, but can change the way you see it".
