East Enders can take the weight off their feet and enjoy Mile End Park thanks to a new art installation. Sculptural Seating, by artist Leona Matuszczak, is a series of brightly coloured concrete seats in the park.
Mile End Park Sculptural Seating Installation
Public Artist Leona Matuszczak has site-specifically designed and constructed a series of four sculptural seats for Mile End Park, East London, U.K.
Made from layers of concrete built up around an inner core and finished with vibrant colours of yellow and orange masonry paint, they add an element of fun and intrigue to the Artspark within Mile End Park. The Sculptural Seats are arranged in a semi-circle and face out towards the Pond and Arts Pavilion where Leona held a solo Exhibition showing the working process of her artwork from design to construction.
Approx. dimensions of each seat are H: 80cm, W:100cm, D: 70cm.
Based in North London, Leona Matuszczak is inspired by places of ancient and natural beauty, stone circles, Celtic art and psychedelic Sixties Design. In an age where we are so confined to our offices, she aims to bring people out to visit and enjoy our green spaces which are vital to our health and well being.
A self-funded project, the Mile End Park Sculptural Seating Installation is a temporary public artwork situated in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets until October.
