Chromosoma

Sidereal spaces, metropolitan grids, bits of reality, human beings … Enrico T. De Paris ( italy 1960) creates parallel worlds that become windows on the real dimension, small microcosms inside which it is possible to read the destiny of contemporary civilisation … a mixture of diverse and intersecting realities, cultures and stimuli.

The exhibition consists of three different sets of works: CHROMOSOMA (project previewed in the >CHROMOSOMA< exhibition at the 51th Venice Biennial - interactive images on www.studioargento.com/chromosoma/), FLUSSI and ORGANIC.

The installation >CHROMOSOMA #010605< - is the three-dimensional, poetic representation of one of the most important biological elements of our body where, between active and passive genes, the life of human beings develops on a time and structural scale. Memories of our forbearers (dna) and contingent factors will construct the man of the future.

The installations in the CHROMOSOMA series - made out of phials from chemistry laboratories or using fascinating blown glass shapes and also including inox structure, videos and sounds - describe innumerable parallel metaphores, minute floating communities where plastic animals and men float in colourful silicon seas, small moments to be observed by man in self-reflection.

The paintings in the FLUSSI series reflect the frenetic pace of everyday life and the infinite stress to which we are all unwillingly exposed. Molecular structures and three-dimensional worlds emerge from chaotic and asymmetric surfaces to take on the appearance of a free zone, refuge or escape route.

The works that make up the ORGANIC series (water-colours on paper shapes) reveal a suspended reality, symbols of a hyper-biotechnological and hyper-electronic society: the human being is an actor in a complex, ironic and paradoxical story.

Enrico T. De Paris uses micro-environments and alternative contexts to invite the spectator to reflect on the social as well as the political and economic conditions that govern the age we live in. He focuses on “perceiving reality", as he himself wrote, “as a mosaic of semi-realities", and on “perceiving different dimensions as a multi-universe".
