The Artists are taking over the gallery! For five weeks, five artists will use Pump House Gallery on the lakeside in Battersea Park as their studio. The gallery will be open to the public, providing a unique 'behind the scenes' opportunity for visitors to see the artists in action as they experiment with new ideas and materials. Chosen from over 190 applicants, via an open submission, the selected artists encompass a diverse array of practices ranging from painting, sound and video, sculpture and live art. An informal exhibition will take place during the final week, though how it all turns out remains to be seen!

Take Over - Artist residencies programme
We are inviting five UK-based visual artists with an established professional practice to take over and use the gallery as their studio or working base for a five-week period commencing January 2007. The residency aims to be non-restrictive and flexible, providing a stimulating and creative environment for artists to work in. Artists may use the gallery as a conventional studio, or engage with the space in other ways, such as transforming it into an installation, performance studio or workshop area.
Exchange of ideas, dialogue and debate amongst the selected artists will be encouraged, as well as experimentation and risk taking. Bespoke peer critique will be key to this residency to enable professional and critical development. The gallery will be to open to visitors throughout the five-week period, allowing for public interaction with the residency process. During the last week there will be an informal exhibition of work or ideas in progress.
Each artist will receive a £1,000 fee
