Synchronicity of Soul

Bridging the realms of abstract figuration, futurism and psychoanalytical symbolism, Russian-born George Victor Zaitsev's paintings are elemental yet highly sophisticated. Mr.Zaitsev is a continuum in the tradition of the early 20th Century Russian Avant-Garde Masters. Many of his works superimpose anthropomorphic shapes and silhouettes against expressive sprays of paint or conversely against geometric forms. They are beautifully realized and uniquely resonant, resembling everything from flags to medical diagrams . It is not simply the figuration and composition that makes these works noteworthy, however. The coloration and blending of colors magnificently fixes a viewer's attention while simultaneously connecting to the philosophy behind Mr.Zaitsev's methodology.

Mr. Zaitsev has a thorough theoretical background for his visual maneuvers, where he has conceptualized the importance of the proportions, both of the figure itself and between the figure and surrounding environment. Mr. Zaitsev has called his style, among other nomenclature, Superfigurative. This is an astute designation of the way in which the art has an essential and beautiful quality. The form is supremely important. It is the absolute manifestation of the artistic extrapolations. Though viewers might initially recognize the action painter aspects, the structure and composition of these pieces is as important as the actual content. likewise, one may be predominantly aware of the intellectual intricacies of the art, but it is also the pinnacle of magnificence that Mr. Zaitsev strives to reach. The artist believes there is a unique and highest plane of art to which an artist can achieve. Judging by his artwork so far, Mr. Zaitsev is closely attuned to this plane.

Born in Moscow, Mr Zaitsev has been a resident of New York City since 1994. He received a Masters in Multimedia Sculpture from Moscow Academy of Arts as well as being a member of the

Avant-Garde Artists Union painting Group. The son of two rocket scientists, Mr. Zaitsev has been a participant in one man and group shows since 1984 all over the world, including Russia, the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, and cities such as Paris and New York.
