La Biokip Gallery apre le sue porte dal 7-4 al 30-4 per ospitare i lavori dell’artista inglese Dave the Chimp, una delle figure di maggior rilievo nella scena della street art mondiale, nella sua “If Television is your God, is Jesus the Remote Control?”, un’esposizione che promette di obbligarci a pensare.

Dave disegna e dipinge da sempre, attivo in strada da dieci anni, diventa subito uno dei personaggi più conosciuti nel campo dei graffiti e della street art, è uno dei fondatori della Finders Keepers crew e offre il suo aiuto nella creazione di Big Cheese magazine.

L’artista inglese lavora come designer per l’azienda Hessen Metal Skateboard Hardware e si occupa dell’art direction dell’agenzia di design e comunicazione Fold7, oltre a collaborare con lo street artist tedesco Flying Fortress nel progetto artistico Visual Rock Stars, recentemente ha anche realizzato interamente un videoclip per la band Robots in Disguise.

I lavori di Dave the Chimp compaiono sulle maggiori riviste e su numerosi libri di street art come in “The art of rebellion 1 e 2”, nell’italiano “Izastickup”a cura di Microbo, Bo130 e The Don, e tra le pagine di “Hollywood-the remix” a cura del più grande sito che supporta questo movimento, Wooster Collective, mentre le sue opere sono state esposte a Barcellona, Londra, Tokyo, Milano, Amburgo e Monaco.

In “If Television is your God, is Jesus the Remote Control?” Dave the Chimp continua a mantenersi fedele alla sua inclinazione per l’uso di immagini sacre e l’attenzione al messaggio di ogni sua opera piuttosto che alla sola tecnica, che di certo non gli manca. La preoccupazione maggiore per l’artista è sempre stata quella di attirare l’attenzione del pubblico per fermarlo e obbligarlo a riflettere, così i suoi lavori hanno spessissimo un significato nascosto, lo stile è semplice proprio per lasciare spazio all’immaginazione dell’osservatore.
Dave the Chimp presenta le sue idee in modo chiaro perché, usando le sue parole: ”Se ti dicono già cosa pensare, dove sono i tuoi di pensieri?”

Nella sua personale alla Biokip Gallery Dave the Chimp ritorna al tema della religione in “If Television is your God, is Jesus the Remote Control?”, un’esposizione che richiede la partecipazione attiva del pubblico.
Quindi spegnete il televisore, accendete il cervello e venite a godervi lo show.

The Biokip Gallery opens its doors from the 7-4 to the 30-4 to host the works of Dave the Chimp, one of the leading figures of the whole street art movement, in an expo titled “If Television is your God, is Jesus the Remote Control?”. An expo promising to make us think.

Dave draws and paints since always, in the streets by ten years, and he become soon one of the most representative character for the street art community, he helped create Big Cheese Magazine and is also a founder member of Finders Keepers Crew. The English artists works as head designer at Hessen Metal Skateboard Hardware and Artist in Residence at design/advertising agency Fold7.

He is now busy in a collaboration with the german artists Flying Fortress under the name Visual Rock Stars and he finally got his directorial debuct realising a videoclip for the band Robots in Disguise. Dave the Chimp’s works appear between the pages of many magazines and books about street art as website wooster collective’s “Hollywood-the remix”, on the two issues of “The art of rebellion” and on the Italian “Izastickup” made by Microbo, Bo130 and The Don. He can count so many expos in his career, some of them organized in London, Munich, Hamburg, Barcelona, Milan, Portland and Tokyo.

In “If Television is your God, is Jesus the Remote Control?” Dave the Chimp keep on using holy images taken by the religious world, minding to his meanings more than to the technique. He prefers a simple style because as he says “If you're told what to think, then where is the space for your own thoughts? Dave’s work was designed to make the people think and he’s really into engaging the mind of the viewer.

Exhibiting in the Biokip Gallery Dave the Chimp aims to create a show that requires everybody’s participation.
