This summer the Absolut-L.A. International brings a vast array of world's best contemporary art work to Los Angeles. In its fifth term, the Absolut-L.A. International has developed a unique format whereby some 65 of L.A.'s best contemporary galleries and art institutions offer their gallery spaces and exhibition venues to over 200 international artists from 30 countries for a four-week exhibition.
This summer the Absolut-L.A. International brings a vast array of
world's best contemporary art work to Los Angeles. In its fifth term, the
Absolut-L.A. International has developed a unique format whereby
some 65 of L.A.'s best contemporary galleries and art institutions offer
their gallery spaces and exhibition venues to over 200 international
artists from 30 countries for a four-week exhibition.
This year the Absolut-L.A. International will continue to be a featured
event of ARTS/LA, a website developed in cooperation with the Los
Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs to highlight the arts and culture
of Los Angeles and increase their accessibility.
The Absolut-L.A. International is a citywide nonprofit event conceived
to foster a dialogue between the Los Angeles art community and
artists, galleries, curators, museums, collectors and visitors from
around the world. Since its inception in 1993, the Absolut-L.A.
International has grown in breadth and quality of participation,
sponsorship and recognition, with principal backing from Absolut
Vodka, Audi and the Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department, who
have been joined this year by the most impressive roster of sponsors
to date.
The Absolut-L.A. International commences with the opening gallery
receptions around the city. On July 18, from 5-8PM, exhibition
openings will be held for the Bergamot Station Galleries in Santa
Monica. . On July 19, from 6-9PM galleries in West Hollywood,
Westwood and Beverly Hills will host openings. On July 20, the La
Brea Avenue, Beverly Boulevard, Melrose Avenue, and Wilshire
galleries, will host openings from 6-9 PM. On Saturday July 21, from
1-4 PM openings will be held in galleries in Venice and inSanta
Monica on Main Street, Colorado Avenue, and the18th Street Arts
Complex. Also on July 21, the Downtown Los Angeles and Chinatown
galleries will have their openings from 4-7PM.
In addition to the wealth of international art being exhibited in the
galleries and arts institutions, panel discussions, lectures, and special
events are scheduled to be held at The Getty Center, the Los Angeles
County Museum, the UCLA Hammer Museum of Art, MOCA, The
Santa Monica Museum, Cal State Long Beach Museum, 18th Street
Arts Complex, Barnsdall Art Park, The MAK Center for Art and
Architecture, and the Italian Cultural Institute, the Korean Cultural
Center, the Irvine Fine Arts Center
