Stay forever and ever and ever

South London Gallery SLG, London

This group exhibition brings together works by 11 international contemporary artists, whose parctices involve assembling objects that connote feelings of nostalgia. At the heart of the project is a discussion around the idea that memories and objects are inexplicably linked; that our memories are stored within objects and objects arouse our memories. Curated by Andrew Renton.

Curated by Andrew Renton, Director of Curating at Goldsmiths College, University of London, this vibrant group exhibition will bring together works by 11 international contemporary artists, whose parctices involve assembling objects that connote feelings of nostalgia. At the heart of the exhibition is a discussion around the idea that memories and objects are inexplicably linked; that our memories are stored within objects and objects arouse our memories.

Taken from a Kylie Minogue song, the exhibition title 'Stay forever and ever and ever' speaks of our relationship with familiar things, particularly referring to the ways in which our personal and shared cultural memories are sparked by material objects, like those brought about by a lyrical refrain.

This exhibition has received generous support from the Henry Moore Foundation and Vicky Hughes & John.A.Smith.
