Recent work
With this special show ARTAMO GALLERY wants to introduce its newest member
in its group of represented artists: Michelle Y. Williams, a
well-established abstract artist from Houston, Texas, whose art has been
presented in exhibitions all over the United States.
Creating her mixed works on canvas Michelle Y. Williams uses a variety of
media, including oil, acrylics and raw materials such as sand. She works
exclusively with the palette knife. Besides painting she also creates
extraordinary pieces of art with metal, wood and glass.
Michelle Y. Williams' work has evolved over the years and continues to
undergo numerous transformations. Unwittingly challenging the notion that
consistency and logical progression are prerequisites for legitimization in
a career, her signature alone remains her signature style.
The ultimate intention of her work is to evoke an emotional response. A
strong feeling of any kind 'good or bad' indicates passion, and with that
one truly can live life to its absolute fullest.
The inspiration for her work is both selective and indiscriminate. After the
initial influence sparks the beginning of a painting, the piece generally
takes on a vision of it's own, a relationship develops between us and
occasionally conflicts must be overcome... art imitates life. At other times
it¹s very passionate and she is in the moment, not questioning the end
result, trusting it will take her where it wants to go.
