Miniature oil paintings
Artist Cathy Callan will present a series of miniature oil paintings in her
solo exhibition Auricle. The exhibition will include works such as
Chrysalis, a series of portraits after Leonardo Da Vinci's Madonna of the
Rocks and He Loves me not- featuring minute botanical paintings on bottle
tops.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a specially created sound piece
by musician Jack L. The artist adds: I work directly from life and from
historical reference, painting from nature and the figure. Painting surfaces
include tin, softwood, hardwood, leather and canvas. I also use gold leaf
and the miniature paintings take on a formal dimension through their
presentation.
