Celebrating Diversity in London
Celebrating Diversity in London
An exhibition by people from the Four Corners of London, celebrating diversity in the city.
London is a vibrant city with many different cultures contributing to its success. Londoners are often very proud of the part of the city they call home, as well as having great pride in their cultural heritage from other parts of the world. Four Corners celebrates London’s richness from the perspective of just some of its many different cultures.
This exhibition is the result of a collaboration between The National Portrait Gallery, community groups, and four arts organisations across the city, of which artsdepot was one. Participants drawn from the local area have worked alongside professional artists and workshop leaders to create their own original and thought provoking art. Displayed alongside the participants’ work are photographic portraits of famous Londoners from the National Portrait Gallery’s Collection.
Public Art around artsdepot
There are three visual arts commissions throughout the building supported by The Milly Apthorp Trust. These are:
Temporary Disturbance by Katie Mills
A site-specific installation presented on the wall opposite the Pentland Bar on Level 3.
Bench Mark by Nic Sandiland
A site-specific interactive video work featuring virtual performers for the long wooden bench on Level 3.
Seated Pebble Figure by Richard Sharples
A lone figure gazing inwards on the Level 4 sculpture terrace.
