34 french and international emerging galleries

October 10th and during Paris' Contemporary Art Week, SLICK 07 will be opening its doors in Paris's 20th District, a typical working class and artists neighborhood. You will discover 34 french and international emerging galleries and more than 200 artists.

SLICK is growing. And in order to accommodate this extension, SLICK 07 will be housed in two locations. At La Bellevilloise, 28 galleries will presente collective accrochage or one man shows. Two minutes away, Slick becomes SlickPROJECTS at the Pavillon Carrée de Baudouin : six galleries show thematique or personal exhibitions

SLICK 07 is still THE French Contemporary Art Fair for welcoming the French and International burgeoning art scene. SLICK 07 is a place of discovery for its audiences and, for its galleries, a springboard towards the international art market, by taking advantage of the prestige of the FIAC.

SLICK is a meeting place between the art enthusiasts, the curious and the professionals around contemporary art in progress including painting, sculpture, drawings, installations and video – and with particular attention given to new technologies.
SLICK is also a place for exchanging ideas around:
- performances organized by galleries (La Bellevilloise & Le Pavillon)
- lectures and conferences (La Pavillon’s Auditorium)
- SlickVIDEOArt, a video program (La Pavillon’s Auditorium)
- SLICKER, the catazine

La Bellevilloise is composed of two large (500m2) areas distributed over two floors and linked together by a metallic flight of stairs, installed over a terrace that overlooks the city of Paris and with unlimited opportunities for meetings. Twenty-seven French and International galleries will take possession of exhibition areas for their artists. The restaurant and bar of the Halle aux Oliviers on the ground floor will welcome you throughout the course of the fair.

History of La Bellevilloise
Founded in 1877 after the enactment of the Paris Commune governing system, La Bellevilloise was Paris’ first cooperative and aimed at giving ordinary people access to a political education and to culture. A place of resistance, a place of the first commercial exchanges “direct from producer to consumer” or a pioneer in fair trade, a place for the performing arts, the Bellevilloise played a central economic and cultural role in Paris’s east end, between 1910 and 1949.

The Pavilion offers us the opportunity to present an exhibition space that combines the scenography of a Biennial with that of a fair. In approximately 500m2 of space, ten galleries will present special projects or one-man-shows. Visitors will be able to walk about more freely, thus inviting them to lose themselves in the midst of the works. The entrance to this exhibition is free.

History of the Pavilion A former country house devoted to parties and pleasure, the name of this 18th century “folie” or folly was given by one of its first owners, Nicolas Carré de Baudouin. Under the impetus of the 20th District’s Town Council, the building was bought by the City of Paris in 2003. The architects Bigoni-Mortemard underwent two years of construction to renovate the Palladian facades and ensure that the entire building complied with standard regulations.

For the first edition called SLICK 01 that, quite logically, has now become SLICK 07, we wanted to surround ourselves with people who were close to us because of the projects they undertake in the contemporary art world. Caroline Bourgeois (The Plateau Creative Director), Henri-Claude Cousseau (ENSBA Director), Alain Fleischer (Fresnoy Director), Louis Nègre (collector), Sonia Rykiel (fashion designer and contemporary art enthusiast) all supported us in the creation of a new event in Paris.

This year once again, we decided to invite three individuals to be our patrons, individuals that we appreciate particularly because of their personalities and also the work they undertake: Antoine de Galbert, (collector and President of Maison Rouge

– Antoine de Galbert Foundation), Bernard Marcadé (art critic and curator) et Frédéric Taddeï (journalist).
We sincerely thank these eight individuals.
