Los Angeles - project: gallery LA is proud to present “head in the trees,” featuring new work from Nate Frizzell, Erik Otto and Scott Belcastro. The show represents three unique and youthful perspectives on the state of our culture and environment.

A recent graduate of Otis College of Art and Design, Nate Frizzell has spent his time since graduation dedicated to painting and honing his style. Using bold and colorful images of children at play - and in turmoil - Frizzell creates intimate stories and hides his own feelings of immaturity. Using both highly rendered images and softer graphic design elements, Frizzell weaves images we all can see ourselves being a part of.

Energy. Boldness. Intuition. These concepts resonate throughout Erik Otto's work. Depicting his dreams as well as his vices, his work is created using a variety of mediums, mostly found, to narrate another chapter in a story that captures the essence of who he is, both as an artist and an individual. Otto’s organic, multilayered works have a consistent focus on movement and growth, bringing a new life to the discarded and forgotten materials he uses.

Scott Belcastro portrays a decaying society by creating detailed and ironically sweet portraits of the homes we all hold dear. Belcastro’s paintings could easily be pulled from the pages of a beautifully illustrated children’s book, were it not for the underlying sadness and questions posed by his work.

Challenging life, overcoming limitations, and pursuing dreams are themes all three artists express in their unique perspectives. Each artist expresses a call to preserve the things important to them – whether it be youth, nature one's own integrity and spirit.

The show opens Saturday, November 10th, 2007. For preview information please contact the gallery.
