"We Are All Friends on This Planet". Featuring 150 paintings by children from 100 different countries, the exhibit has been boosted by the addition of 50 specially commissioned paintings by Yugoslavian children. Pictures are grouped under the themes "Dream", "Hope", "My Family" and "Joy". The pictures in the exhibit were selected from a total of 100,000 collected by Soka Gakkai International (SGI) from 161 countries around the world.
Belgrade, Yugoslavia - November 5 Opening of the World
Boys and Girls Art Exhibit subtitled ''We Are All Friends on This Planet,'' at
the Progress Gallery, Belgrade where it will run until November 24.
Featuring 150 paintings by children from 100 different countries, the exhibit
has been boosted by the addition of 50 specially commissioned paintings by
Yugoslavian children. Pictures are grouped under the themes ''Dream,''
''Hope,'' ''My Family'' and ''Joy.''
Masaru Katano, organiser of the exhibit, comments, ''Our message is one of
friendship. Children here have suffered so much because of war and I'm happy
that we can link them with children throughout the world in this way. The
paintings show vividly the dreams of peace and happiness they all share.''
Cosponsors of the Belgrade showing include the Belgrade Children's Culture
Center, the Princess Elizabeth Foundation, UNICEF and local NGOs working with
children. Already shown in 26 countries around the world, the pictures in the
exhibit were selected from a total of 100,000 collected by Soka Gakkai
International (SGI) from 161 countries.
The 5 p.m. opening will feature a performance by a children's chorus and is
scheduled to be attended by HRH Princess Jelisaveta Karadordevic of the Princess
Elizabeth Foundation, Culture Minister Mr. Branislav Lecic and UNICEF Belgrade
director Mr. Jean-Michel Delmotte.
