Towards the end of this year, the Wallraf will offer a special treat for all those who love drawings : Die Idee und das Leben presents masterly drawings by famous artists such as Runge, Friedrich, Leibl and Liebermann. The roughly 100 exhibits provide a comprehensive view of this extremely productive period in German art – from German Romanticism and Realism to Impressionism.
The studies, sketches and designs enable visitors to study important stylistic developments and learn more about the artists and their techniques. The drawings provide a new and rare insight into the artistic creativity and diversity of this period. All the exhibits will be scanned and saved using the latest digital technology. Instead of a catalog, all the images and data will be published on the Internet and can be downloaded.
